The CallKeep Connector

The Connector puts the drop-offs your CallKeep assistant books onto your shop's own schedule, and it keeps the assistant from offering a time you already have. It comes in two versions: one for Tekmetric, one for Mitchell 1 Manager SE. Either way, if the computer is off, nothing is lost. Bookings still reach you by text and email, and the Connector catches up when it is back.

For Tekmetric

A small Chrome extension for the front-desk computer.

• It runs inside your own Tekmetric login, in Chrome, on your computer. CallKeep never sees your password and never signs in to Tekmetric itself.
• When someone books through your assistant, the Connector adds the appointment in Tekmetric within a minute, with the customer, the car and the time. If the customer cancels, it cancels there too.
• It watches the calendar the way you do, so the assistant works around what is already booked.

Setting it up

1. In your CallKeep dashboard, open Settings and find the Tekmetric card. Press Set up the Connector. You get a six-character code.
2. On the front-desk computer, in the Chrome that has Tekmetric signed in, add the CallKeep Connector from the Chrome Web Store and press Add to Chrome.
3. Back in CallKeep Settings, the Tekmetric card notices the Connector and shows Pair this computer. Press it; nothing to type. (Or open the Connector from Chrome's puzzle-piece menu and enter the code there.)
4. That is all it needs. The Connector keeps one pinned Tekmetric tab open in Chrome and opens it again if it is closed, and Chrome keeps running in the background after its window is closed, so bookings land whether or not anyone is at the desk. The Settings card shows Online when it is working.

Nothing else is needed from you. While CallKeep finishes the link for your shop, the Connector learns how your Tekmetric works from ordinary use, and drop-offs start landing in it from our side.

For Mitchell 1 Manager SE

A small program for the computer that runs Manager SE.

• It runs on the computer where Manager SE keeps its schedule and works from that same schedule directly, on your premises. No login of yours passes through CallKeep.
• When someone books through your assistant, the appointment goes onto the Manager SE schedule within a minute, with the customer, the car and the time. If the customer cancels, it is cancelled there too.
• It reads the schedule every minute, so the assistant works around what is already booked.

Setting it up

1. In your CallKeep dashboard, open Settings and find the Mitchell 1 card. Press Set up the Connector. You get a six-character code.
2. On the computer that runs Manager SE, download the CallKeep Connector, unzip it, and double-click Install.cmd. Windows asks twice: press Run, then Yes. It takes about five minutes, most of it waiting, and we are happy to do it with you on a screen share.
3. The Connector finds the Manager SE database on that computer by itself. In the rare case it cannot, the person who looks after your computers gives it a login; a read-only one is enough to begin with.
4. That is all it needs. The installer also stops that computer sleeping while it is plugged in, so leave it plugged in and on. The Settings card shows Online when it is working.

Keeping the computer awake

Either Connector needs its computer on. The Mitchell 1 installer takes care of it; for a front-desk computer on Tekmetric, download the keep-on file, unzip it, and double-click KeepOn.cmd once. The computer stops sleeping while plugged in, closing a laptop lid does nothing, and Windows Update restarts happen outside your hours and sign you back in afterwards. It never stores a password, it leaves battery settings alone, and Undo.cmd puts everything back.

The honest part

Neither Tekmetric nor Mitchell 1 offers an official link for services like CallKeep, so the Connector works through what you already have: your own Tekmetric login, or the Manager SE schedule on your own computer. That means it can stop working if they change things on their side. We watch for that and fix it from ours, and if it is ever down, your bookings still reach you the normal way. You can disconnect it from Settings at any time; nothing already on your schedule changes.
